Friday Five

1. It’s back, the kid quote of the week. A joke told by my friend’s 5-year-old son. You know the difference between Santa Claus and Tiger Woods? Santa stops at three ho’s. Yes, a 5-year-old told that joke. I’m convinced he has no idea what it means. Or maybe I’m hoping he doesn’t.

2. The Collector is going through some edits, so its word count remains at 43,000 or 180 pages. Removing cheesiness from a story takes some thought and skill. At first I was hesitant to do significant edits with an incomplete first draft. However, I knew the things I wanted in the story needed to be in place in order for me to write the ending the way I envisioned. I must say, it has been fun going through the story again because I’m learning more about the characters. And you know what? This story that was supposed to be a writing exercise is not half bad.

3. The Oklahoma newspaper broke the news about the restructuring and closing of the Guidance Centers (where I work). As a result, our staff had to start telling families we would no longer be around. It’s been fun venting and laughing with clients. It’s also been fun revisiting funny moments I’ve had with my friends/co-workers.

4. Maintenance finally got rid of the angry pigeon that was holding my patio hostage. AND they removed the two piles of pigeon poo that I’m convinced were ejaculating (hehehehe) toxic fumes. Good riddance! I get to enjoy my patio and faboo chairs. Guess where I will be this weekend. J

5. This week has been blue skies and sunshine. Flowers are blooming. Trees are budding. Endless days of daydreaming as I stare out my office window are beginning. Ah, Spring.

Hugs and Encouragement!
